Default Hello and Happy New Year

Hello, my name is Harley Gillman, I live in North Central Saskatchewan, Canada. I have been carving and whittling off and on since I was just a wee gaffer, 25-30 years or so. I recently got the bug again and started to whittle while watching TV. I see already from browsing this site that there are a lot of great carvers and excellent info shared. I hope I learn from you folks and I hope I may pass something on as well.

Welcome aboard Gilly, nice to see another Carving Canuck here. What sorts of things do you carve? That's pretty country out your way, a sea of grass!

Wittling while watching Tv.. wow.. I'd be in some serious hurt if I tried that. Now the Radio I can handle.. as long as its not a bouncy tune. *grin*

Thanks for the welcome. I tend to carve many different things, figures, reliefs, what ever comes out after picking up a piece of wood. I love the feel of a good sharp blade slicing thin shavings off of a piece of wood, so much so, I often pick up a stick and just play, usually ending up with a perfectly pointed piece, cut the tip off and play again.

I had to assure my wife that while carving in front of the TV, all of my shavings would end up in a tray on my lap, not on the floor!
