Smile Hello All

I'm Rob, live in northern California (San Rafael area). Finally retired and getting the time I always wanted to whittle and carve. Just wanted to into myself to you and ask if anyone has a .jpg of their work area. I want to set up something workable that's not in the wife's way of her crafts LOL. I would appreciate any ideas or links or ?
Thanks,
Rob Paynter

Hi Rob, welcome to the group, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here, great bunch of people. I'm up here in Ontario Canada and I have a small 10 x 10 computer room that I use for all my carving and painting needs. I have a great wood working shop in the basement but was forced up here due to recent hip replacement and couldn't use the stairs. This was to be a temp location but have decided to stay now that I'm up here,I only carve small figures so it works for me. I bought one of those wood carver aprons and I pin it to the window cell and all the chips land in it and then I dump it out, keeps the wife off my back. I carve in front of the computer and then have a small desk behind me where I can do the painting. Sorry I don't have a pic, but it works real well and takes very little space. For sawing and so on I still use the basement but you realy only need a small corner to actually do the carving. Hope this helps, good luck.
Cliff

Hello Rob, welcome to the site, lots of good people and information here.
My workshop is outside, we also have a work area up stairs in our house, a large room where my wife and I work, she quilts and I do my burning and painting there. I do my wood working or carving in the shop as the dust is impossible to control, working in the house. There is a Thread, in Wood Carving Tips and Techniques about tool racks. Scroll down on the main page, Click on "Woodrving Tips and Techniques". On the page that comes up there is a thread titled, show me me your Tool Rack. Hope this helps.
