Default Hello to all

Hello to everybody. My name is Al and I'm new to carving but looking forward to trying it out. I used to sit in the yard when I was little and whittle with my grand dad and learn awhole of wisdom from times gone by that is lacking in these present days. He taught me how to sharpen and care for the knives we used which included a pretty good cut now and then. I'm looking forward to learning from you great folks here. Thanks, Al.

Hello and welcome Al!

I've been carving a long while, but I'm new to this forum as well, so I hope we both learn a lot in the "iron sharpening iron" way of bouncing ideas off one another.

Have fun whittling away and watch out for sharp edges!

Hello, and welcome--half the battle is already won by learning proper knife sharpening--I'm still learning LOL
Looking forward to seeing some of your work when you are ready. Carving gloves, thumb guard sure helps me keep from getting cut or gouged.

Generally, folks post their carving images in the forums they relate too. You can post your images in the Carver Galleries also, just look to the bar on the left under 'Carving Community' just click on 'Carver Galleries' and follow the instructions.
Posting Photos
Some times new folks to this site will post an image in their introduction thread in the 'Welcome Members'.
