Hello everyone.

I just registered on the forum a few moments ago and thought it was only proper that I introduce myself before posting.

I'm Tom, hi!

I haven't been carving long but, already, I know it's a hobby that's going to stay with me for the rest of my life. I've always enjoyed working with wood but perceived carving as something extremely difficult and never tried it. Then I met Kim, and I wanted to carve her a Lovespoon. So I decided I must learn.

I've now carved 4 or 5 pieces of work and am currently attempting my first 3D piece: a bear.

So that's my brief carving history. I'm sure I'll be sticking around to chat and seek advice (I'll be asking hopefully for some guidance with my bear shortly) so I hope to get to know you all.

Hi Tom! Welcome to the WCI Forum. As you've probably already noticed, lots of great friendly and helpful carvers here on the forum plus some wonderful forum features such as speciality departments with all sorts of great information posted. Besure and check out the WCI Forum videos (posted on the left sidebar...) for further assistance too...In fact, I believe Gene Messer has a video series on carving a bear... Sooo be carve safely, have fun and enjoy yourself!
