Hello and welcome, I too, recommend Little Shavers Wood Carving Supply they are super to do business with and they get your order to you promptly. Check the site but I haven't seen mallet tools, only palm and macro. Also take a look at Woodworking tools, supplies, plans, projects, accessories, articles and more - Woodcraft.com Wood Carvers Supply, Inc. www.mdiwoodcarvers.com Tools for log furniture building, woodworking, wood carving, wood turning offered by Traditional Woodworker
Hope this helps,
Kathy

thank you Plain_Ol_Ed and Mottles. Why it took me so long to find this site I don't know. What a quick response, thank you.
I'll try Little Shavers for sure.
I learning to sharpen tools but still haven't got the hang of it. I purchased Chipping Away's 'Ultimate Sharpening Machine' but still have to master it, like learning most skills lots of practice required. Thanks again.

Look up "scary sharp" method of sharpening...its cheap, 4 sheets of sandpaper and a strop....learn how you sharpen by hand, the angles etc before using power...you will save a lot of expensive steel that way ...and besides, when you learn, it makes the power sharpening better and faster. imho

Al, enjoyed your work!

I'm just starting, again. I decided to start right and purchased carving (relief) tutorials and sharpening techniques. I'm updating my tools and enjoying the wood.

I'd like do some carving similar to yours at a later time. Where do you get your cutouts? What wood(s) work best for you?

Thanks again for sharing.

hy Stephen , happy to hear you enjoyed my stuff , you are starting out right in my humble opinion with learning how to sharpen your tools first , takes alot of practice to get er right , you will always be learning till the day the man upstairs call you home.
I'm really lucky with wood as a really close friend has a saw mill and i can get all the wood I want in exchange for a carving once in awhile.
The wood I use mostly is Basswood and Butternut And I cut out the blanks myself.
Again welcome to a GREAT site
