Default Have you noticed how many viewers we have?

We've picked up a lot of viewers lately. Nearly 300 while I'm writing this post. We have many non-members, which is fine, but membership is free and we'd love to learn more about those of you who aren't posting.

Many lurkers are iind of shy, or they think everybody else is so advanced they couldn't possibly want to hear from them.

Other times, it is a case of somebody likes to work alone and is looking for a specific solution to specific problem.

Heck, I lurked myself for awhile before signing up ( and now look how things are )

I see we have surpassed our previous record for the most online here at any one time....504! Great stuff. Lurkers will no doubt say something when they have something to say, they must know by now from the banter aboard here, that they are welcome to participate at any time. This carving family is ever growing in skills, friendship and fellowship, and I am very proud to be a member.

Well I don't want to be a lurker....so I'm jumping in here. I found this because I'm a beginning carver and looking for some solutions. My mom has taught me basics but she isn't much help living across the country from me. I've probably stepped it up too far and I'm doing a bird with open wings. Trying to figure out how make them look like part of my bird.

What a great site,to meet other carvers, share patterns and techniques,I think this is what WCI had in mind when they developed this web.

It's great to see all the viewers! and it's even greater when they join in and become carving friends.

Now for Snoozer...tell us more. What kind of bird are you carving, how big, realistic or stylized, painted or natural, inserts for wings, or one piece?

Also, are there any carving clubs near to where you live? You'll find a wealth of information here on this message board, but real one-on-one help is hard to beat.

Welcome. Let us hear more from you.

Snoozer, I think you mentioned having 'stepped too far'. Are you thinking you took on too much of a project for your current skill levels?

Just hang in there, and do it one step at a time. How else do you think any of us improve? Occasionally, we bite off more than we can chew. By the time we get done, hey! We've learned something new.

So keep in touch, you'll get lots of advice.
