Hi, I just happened upon this website and liked what I saw. I browsed through many of the carving photos, and I'm sure I have a long way to go to meet these standards...but I will keep at it. I haven't got any pictures of my carvings yet, but I guess I'll start clicking the camera and get some uploaded. Most everything I've done is copied from different carving books. I haven't seemed to develop the 'artistic eye' and maybe I never will...but I will keep at it! This site offers much encouragement |

Thanks Phil, The first few things I carved I did in basswood.Mostly santas, little chickadees, I tried a trout. Then I did some walking sticks in willow, pine and maple. I've done a couple of spirits in cypress knees, and my most recent is a wolf head in cottonwood bark. (not completed yet). I use all hand tools. If I'm using block wood, my husband cuts out the rough shape for me. My first attempt with a woodburning tool on the wolf I'm doing...not particulary successful! gerrigirl |
