Hi Mat welcome aboard several carvers in this area. Mid america wood carvers put on a good show and sale every October. Lots of good info here.

Bill in Omaha.

Hello All Again:
I am not a registered member of the Mid America Woodcarvers Assoc in Omaha, but probably should be, there is a carving club out of Fremont, NE, that seems to be very active at scheduling seminars and classes for the members, and are a very dedicated group of carvers, or so I've been told, so I am thinking about joining that group. This is not to say anything at all negative about the group out of Omaha, I know alot of the members that belong to that group, all terriffic people, it is just that our daughter and grandchildren live in Fremont, so it gives my wife & I an excuse to stop by my daughters house more often.
Corey...wasn't that an awesome show this year, so much talent in one place, definitely humbles a fellow thats for sure.
Ed Redwine...thanks for the welcome not too sure about the headstart on the other newbies....I am almost embarrassed to show any pics of my work, after visiting the photo galleries, my goodness, where does all this talent come from. My grandpa used to tell me talent was a synonym for lots and lots of practice, experience, and hard work. Well....I need lots & lots of practice to come anywhere close to the talent featured on this board.
Paul...the old owners of that store are great people, and the new guy seems like a good guy as well. They always told me I was their best book customer, judging by my stack(s), they are probably right. I just need to get on with practicing. Does Holley carve well? I saw some holley in their scrap bin, smaller pieces, that looked like they woud be about the right size for bottle stoppers or xmas ornaments....but didn't know enough about the wood to make a purchase.

Anyway and to all....thanks for the welcomes, and we'll be in touch, just promise me not to laugh!!!

Matt

It was and awesome show Matt, very inspiring. There are a lot of dual members I think in both clubs. They do put on some great seminars. Maybe we will meet up some day!

Corey
