Smile Greetings all from Oz.

Although I have been a member for a while, this is my first post. I have been kept busy reading the forums and other articles. I have been carving for nearly six years. We have a wonderful variety of timbers here in Australia to work with as well as imports. I work predominatly with Beech, Silky Oak, Mango and Jacaranda. In the near future I will some pics of my work.
I live in Brisbane Qld since retirement from my Surveying profession.

Welcome to the board. If that Beech is the same as ours it is plenty hard to carve.

Welcome, and looking forward to seeing your carvings. I hope you can display one carved from Jacaranda. I did a gouache painting of a jacaranda tree which was part of a garden located at a hotel in Mexico. Eager to see the color of the wood.
