Default Greetings from the Air Capitol of the World!

Hello, I’m new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I recently attended the March 2008 seminars at Silver Dollar City. If you went, you might remember me. I was one of the runners during the kickoff dinner taking prizes to all the lucky winners (except myself of course, how did that work out!?). I’ve carved since high school which is not as far back for me as it probably is for most of you. I’m just joking (but not really). I live in Wichita, Kansas and hope to learn a lot though this forum and see many great carvings. I hope my knives stay sharper than my mind.

Welcome MoodyBlue to the forum,
You will enjoy this crowd. I have for the last several years. Very knowledgable folks on board here and are helpful to the extreme if you ask questions. Are planing on joining the Great Plains Woodcarvers in Wichita?

Welcome, MoodyBlue!
Glad to have you aboard and to hear that you will be in my seminar at FHTC in Emporia. I can see right now that you are going to be an enjoyable carver to have in the seminar and that you will add some fun to it.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I’m very impressed so many of you have such nice grandchildren who will post your comments for you. Woodcarving is a great hobby to have and very satisfying to accomplish each project. I’ll have a link to a website I’m building to showcase my carvings soon.

Hi xsailor. I haven’t really put any thought into joining the Great Plains Woodcarvers club. I usually have carving nights at my house twice a month with a gathering of carving friends. At least it starts out as carving. About the forth toast of the night most of us just start staring at our carvings and doing more talking than carving. Great times though.

Welcome aboard Moodyblue. I also live in Wichita here lately it should be called the windy city. I can't ever remember sitting and staring at my carvings though. Does it help and what are you toasting with I might try it. Which side of town do you live on? Glad you could join us.
Ron

Hi Ron, I live close to the airport just north of MacArthur off of Hoover Road. It’s nice because I’m only a few minutes away from where I work at the Cessna Aircraft Company. I still race out the door in the mornings though. Our toasts at carving nights usually start out with eloquent verses of triumph and deeply thought-out echoes of the soul. By the end of the night the toasts are mostly, “TO CARVING!” The wonders of whisky I suppose.

Whereabouts do you reside Ron? I think one person from my circle of carvers lives near you. He brought in a local article about you. He lives up around 13th and Tyler.
