Welcome Rich,
This is a real friendly group of folk, so just hop right in with any questions or suggestions. What sort of carving are you interested in?
John

i guess i would have to say relief type carving, i'm planning on a small residential sign that would consist of wildlife (either fowl or animal) as part of the frame with my sir name below possibly in raised letters, i'm still throwing some ideas around.
i also posted in the materials section on the type of wood to use since it would be exposed to weather.

Hi Rich! Where in Central Florida... Polk? Highlands Counties? You a member of a club. Another guy was on the forum the other day looking for fellow carvers in the Auburndale area.

I did a quick search and found three clubs ( not sure how current the info is) all around you. Didn't see anything for Sumter. But if you did contact them they might be able to connect you up with someone. Even a once every couple of months visit to one of these groups could be extremely beneficial to your carving career.
