Default Greetings

I just joined this site and hope to learn all kinds of things. I've been whittling for a few months now and am interested in carving spoons, chip carving, and I'd like to give wood spirits a try. The only woods I've worked have been basswood, pine, and the occasional twig or stick I find lying around. I did purchase some butternut but so far have been to afraid to start a project with it. My finishing experience has been limited to using tung oil and recently using gel stains and polyurethane on my chip carvings. I'm relatively happy with the gel stain look and will probably experiment a bit more on my next project.

I've posted pictures of my first chip carving attempts in the appropriate forum. I'll post pictures of my whittling and other carving attempts as pictures are created.

I've posted picstures of all my carvings to date in the Beginner's forum, unless it gets moved to the appropriate forum. Comments and suggestions appreciated.
