Default Got the note.

Howdy folks! Been away for a while what with work and family. I'm still carving though. (Thankful to be working...there's a lot who aint! ) My granddaughter still goes with me to the weekly wood carver's meeting. Her and Grandma are in Maine at the present and PaPa is home "batching it" for the next few weeks.

A couple of weeks ago, we did a "carve-in" at the Lunney Museum in Seneca, SC. I just happened to have a Basswood craft board. What the heck I says...I layed out a pattern and did my first Chip carving. It was a cross with 96 boxes, 12 cuts to each box. That's 1,152 cuts. It was just a practice board, but a couple of the guys told me it was good enough to put in a show. I think they were just stroking my ego a bit. I'm well pleased with it as a first attempt. My next two are being done in Poplar...good thing they are practice boards. Poplar has a tendency to chip out...usually in a tough spot to fix.

Thanks for letting me ramble, Mike G. in SC
