Default I got to meet a forum member!

I had the distinct privilege of meeting Doug Ridley and his wife Mary and their grandson Gordon tonight. Doug brought some of his carvings and I must say that you need to see his work in person! Doug's specialty is cypress knee santas, although he had a master piece with him of a Santa made from basswood. Doug also brought several other carvings that were amazing, including a wooden vase with a wooden arrow shot through it. I could not figure out how he did it. All I can say is that his technique is fascinating.

Doug carves his carvings and his wife paints them. What an incredible job they do. They make a great team. My wife, Kathy, also enjoyed talking about quilting with Mary.

I was excited before they came and just thrilled that they stopped by. Any of you that are traveling I-75 down into Florida please stop by. I am just 5 easy miles off the interstate and Tifton is a nice stopping place.

Doug and Mary (and Gordon), thank you for making my day.

Greg
