Default glad I stumbled in here

I was looking for information on pakka wood and came across the thread here that had me rolling on the floor besides giving me the info I needed. I figure I'll be hanging around here a bit being new to wood carving so I thought I'd drop in and say hi. I'm a 3rd generation wood worker in my family - my gfather did detailed scroll saw work, my mom does wood carving and I've started with carving my walking stick - nothing fancy carvingwise just wire and crystal inlay. Based on the compliments I've gotten on it, even half done, it's likely to be the first of many carved staffs. Anything to make a few coins in this economy and although it's taking forever I love working with the wood.

Hello and welcome, gavrielah. It's nice to have you here with us. I'm a stick carver, too, and would love to hear more about your stick, especially the inlay. Please post pictures. And tell me about the pakka wood.

Howdy Gavrielah. I'm glad you stumbled too, but I hope you didn't hurt anything.
How about showing how you manage to do the inlay? I'd love to hear more from all you inlay guys about that.

Hi Gavrielah: Glad you stumbled in. I am currently working on a cane which is a personal totem. It is right-handed and I just recently discovered however, that I need a left-handed cane. lol...oh well! The members here are willing and able to answer your questions. Enjoy!
