This is a new venture for me. I have been doing some turning for about 2 years. I took a one day carving class last week out of interest. Although the course unfortunately was not very informative it did further my interest in learning more about carving. I am from northwestern Ontario, near Thunder Bay. I inherited some wood carving tools from my mother and I am interested in some beginner projects that offer some challenge. I have made my own carving knife and I am just in the process of making my own leather stropping belt for sharpening. I would really appreciate any assistance and ideas for new projects. Looking forward to getting started. Errol |

Welcome to the forum Errol! Gene Messer, one of the carvers on this forum, has several excellent videos out on youtube...he has some excellent beginner projects. Also, there are a lot of great books out there with loads of projects from beginner to advanced. And if you don't already have one you should get a subscription to this magazine, WCI. Every issue has lots of terrific projects in it.
