Thumbs up Re: G,day From Oz

Dear Mulga Bill;

I am new to this site even though I have beeen a subscriber of the magazine for several years. Your "handle" intrigues me ! I am a boomerang expert and I learned a long time ago that Mulga wood was a common wood used for booms, but I have not, to my knowledge, ever had that particular species identified or shown to me. Would you be kind enough to describe it' s appearance and working properties for me ?

Welcome.....if you go to Ricks site at Little Shavers Wood Carving Supply and look at how to make a knife and you can find an old shabby/broken straight razor.....you can't beat them for a carving knife!

welcome to the forum cobber,
Glad you found the site, beats the pants off any others I've seen, and the magazine is great as well. Heaps of real friendly people here, always ready to answer questions and help in any way they can...no question too silly or too complicated, so start makin' chips and hit the site with anything that pops up. If you find yourself in the market for carving tools, one mob I've found good to deal with is Carba-tec and they have stores in most states. If you check out their website, you can have them send out their 300+ page catalogue to you for free
http://www.carbatec.com.au/store_select.php

Hope this helps a bit, and look forward to seeing you on the forum often.

Greetings and Salutations! I agree, your "Mulga" handle conjures up visions of "Crocodile Dundee" for us other side of the pond types! But then you had to go and ruin it by telling us you were creating your masterpieces with your wife's potato peeler. Ouch!!! And here I thought that you had a foot long skinning knife that you were using! Anyway, welcome aboard!
