Smile Fish Carving

Hello All:
My name is Bill dazet and I am a wooden fish carver from South Louisiana. I have been carving fish for 18 plus years. I make my own patterns from real fish frozen into animated positions and then photographed into a digital software program to convert them to line drawings for profile and plan views. I burn in scales, insert eyes and fins and hand paint in metallic paints to replicate realism. Mounting is done sometimes on Mississippi River driftwood and sometimes hand made cypress frames. If anyone want to chat about techniques. please just email me at cdazet1@cox.net

Sounds like a waste of good fish to me! I hope that they end up on the bar-b-que afterwards! Ha! Ha! Just kidding! When you get a chance post a pic or two of your work.

Hi Bill, welcome and I sure would love to see some of your work. Maybe at some point you'll upload some images for us. You certainly would be a good one to talk to if I ever carve a fish.

Joy, Mottles, Eddie: I will be glad to share any of my ideas and techniques with you. I will try to post a pix or two of some recently completed work. O am teaching a class in fish carving to some 18 people half of which are ladies who are doing a fantastic job and find it very therapudic and rewarding. Without sounding swell headed, I have been selected to display my work and demonstrate my techniques at the 2008 New Orleans Boat Show which will occupy some 230,000 square feet and have estimate quarter million people attend, if any of you happen to be in New Orleans on January 9, please let me know and I will get you tickets. Here goes a few pictures

files are too big I will have to resize them and resend

Hello, My name is A.A Campbell (Arthur), I like to carve fish as well as smaller songbirds. Been carving birds for a while, looking forward to doing a few fish again. Has anybody carved a Pike? Not lifesize or anything, maybe a foot long? PEACE

G'day Bill, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are way ahead of my limited skills. Have fun, Joe.

Hi Bill,
Great idea! How do you hold the fish in position while waiting for them to freeze? What software program do you use to convert them to line drawings?
Thank you, Ron
