There's a Woodcraft about 30 minutes from you in Alpharetta. If you get on their mailing list they send out periodic newsletters with some pretty good sales and coupons. A recent promotion provided a $15.00 instant rebate on any $50.00 purchase. They also send out a post card offering a 10% discount during your birthday month and have other incentives also.

Although not the best quality, you might try the Michaels in Buford and see if they have a Walnut Hollow carving knife. Wait until the Atlanta Sunday paper carries a Michaels ad with a 40% or 50% off any one item and then buy it. You'll need to put some time and effort into it to get an edge on it for carving but with out paying shipping and handling it will probably be the cheapest carving knife that you'll find.
