Default eager to learn

hi there folks:
i just decided to delve into the world of wood carving with absolutely no experience at all. will be looking forward to learn much from all of you & hopefully i can get the tips i will be looking for.

Welcome, hopefully that name will change to Carvemore before long. There is a lot to learn. If you are enthused as I you will find the next two years at least, will be filled with lots of things to learn.

Welcome Carveless,
Everyone started at the begining..... Carving is not hard but it takes persistance and it helps if you can locate either classes or just a carving group with no formal teacher. Actually watching someone use their tools is very helpful.

When I first started carving I bought a great set of German tools and tried to follow along with the PBS program, "Carving with Rick Butz". Unfortunately, I did not know that tools are not sharp when you buy them so when I couldn't do what the guy on tv was doing, I gave up. Thank goodness I attended a local carving show and was hooked up with a teacher who ran a small group. He sharpened my tools for me and taught me how to use them.

That was 15 years ago. This website is wonderful. Years and years of experience are located right here. Welcome.

Welcome Carveless... Gald to have you ... Since you are just starting ..

I welcome you to look under carving tutorials on this forum and see a post I just displayed for beginners in carving a simple figure out of a block of wood ..
