Diamond Willow by Rogheff Allow me to introduce myself. I've been carving for the past 10 years or so. I started when I went on my first Scouting campout with my son. The Scoutmaster was an avid carver who carves native american flutes. I got a few tips, harvested a piece of Aspen and have carved contiuously ever since.
I carve mostly walking sticks and canes. After collecting dozens, I decided to try to make a business of it.
Diamond Willow is my wood of choice as I have an unlimited supply on some family land in Northern Minnesota. I have also carved Cherry, Oak, Hickory, Grape Vine, Aspen, Buckthorne, Hawthorne, Dogwood, Maple, Cedar, Yew, Cactus and Bamboo. I'm a landscaper and have a supply of interesting woods as a result of plant removal.
I had a little time this morning and thought I'd do a search to see if there were any woodcarving forums. Here you are! |
