| | Re: Carving Hello Vania,
Like Ash said...depending what you wish to carve may determine your choice of wood. I find the staple for many carvers is basswood but provide some details and you may get more feedback to consider.

| | Re: Carving Hi, and welcome. What type of carving do you want to learn?
I think a good all around wood is 'basswood' it's kind to beginning carvers and Advanced carvers alike.

| | Re: Carving Hi Vania, and welcome. I'm new to woodcarving too, but love it more each day. What kind of wood to you have in your area? I got some Rocky Mountain cedar from a friend and I am enjoying working with it. Basswood is recommended a lot, although if you're not going to paint it, the wood itself, I think anyway, isn't very interesting. Still, I've been using it and it's easy to carve, at least the good stuff. Good luck, and welcome again. |
