Smile Carvers in my area

I am looking for other carvers and scroll saw hobby in my area of La Crosse and Onalaska, Wisconsin area. I have just gotten back into the hobby after many years. Wood working and making RC Model planes has been my main past hobbies.
With retirement and the Wisconsin Winters I have found a great way to pass the cold snowy winter days.

Hi Doc, if you take a look at the menu , left hand side top of screen, you will see under "Carving community" a heading called "other great sites", there you will find some carving clubs listed, you might get lucky and find one near your local.
Also maybe you would get more results from your quest by asking in the "Welcome Members forum" or under the General Carving forum", just a thought.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

OG
Hmmm I see it has been moved to a more appropriate forum...good.

Doc,

From one former RC Modeler to another...Welcome!! I'm sorry I can' help with your part of the states but I'm sure there are plenty of folks up your way carving.
One thing I will say about this hobby is that it is much more affordable than planes (I swear I own a piece of Tower Hobbies ) and that it's just the opposite of planes in the fact that once a carving is done it does not start depreciating...

Smile Re: Carvers in my area

Thanks Tony: I think I own most of tower hobbies with my RC stuff.
I got out of the Pyrotechnics after many years. That was expensive for all the chemicals. I have great source for wood in our area for practice and there is so much to this carving, scrolling, etc. It does kill the time.

Hi Doc,
Besides this website, there are two places I go to find clubs. One is the Colwood electronics site (the woodburner people) and the other is Chip Chats (the publication of the National Woodcarvers Assoc.) I didn't see Wisconsin clubs at Colwood's site, but try http://www.chipchats.org/localchapt.shtml
and you can type in your general or specific location and they will let you know if they have a nearby club.

Glad to have you back in the carving world. Sounds like you have lots of different "toys."
