Default Carver6

Have been carving off and on since the early eightys. The wife and I had visited Silver Dollar City and I mentioned I thought I would like to try wood carving. Birthday comes around and I am the proud owner of a set of basic wood carving chiesels she had located. Have been carving off and on ever since, and buying more tools.

Originally from Oklahoma, I moved to the Show Me state in 1974. Moved to Springfield from Joplin in '76. Met my wife in '77 and got married in '78. Been here long enough to consider myself a native Ozarker, especially since my great-grandparents moved to Okla. from this area in the '20's. I'm presently employed with a nuclear pharmacy and deliver orders to medical facilities in Harrison and Mtn. Home, Ark. every day. Make a very early run and am back in Springfield, Mo. by 10 a.m. when I get off for the day. Sleep and work doesn't leave a lot of time for carving.

I carve relief mostly, but do occasionally venture into other areas. Have to carve in the garage most of the time. At this time of year it is a little to chilly for me to carve there. Have been thinking of heating it but think it's too drafty for that. Will just wait for Spring and lurk around here in the meantime.

Really enjoy this board and the input from the various carvers. Have learned a lot from all the posts on here.

Keep your knives sharp and strop often.
Forgot to mention: My name-Garon Burford
