Default Carousel Horse Carving

Hello,
My name is Larry, and I carve full size carousel horses. Please visit my web-site at: www.carouselcarving.com to see some of my work. I also have a very detailed book on carving carousel horses, as well as a two hour DVD on the same subject. Thanks for visiting.

Hello Larry and welcome, I’ve always admired you carousel carvers. Great looking pieces on your website. When I was in Georgia I noticed the stone carvers were wearing hand folded newspaper hats, is that what your father is wearing in the photo as he is working on the Iwo Jima sculpture?

Hello Tony,
Thanks for you kind words. Actually my Father was using a paper bag for a hat. He did that often, I guess because of the stone dust getting into the material of a cloth hat, I don't know for sure. I clicked on the link above and was not sure which carvings were yours. Did you carve the mask?

probably why the Georgian stone carvers did it with newspaper...

Yep, those are my carvings in the link. The Indian mask was from a book by Jeff Phares and the Mt. Man is from Mark Gargac’s tutorial right here on the forum. I’m getting close to finishing it.

Hi Larry, I visited your site, Beautiful work!

My wife grew up in Elmira and has spent many hours of her youth playing in Eldridge Park and riding that carousel 40+ years ago.

Your link to Eldridge Park brought back many fond memories for her, she said to say, Thank You!

When I go to Hershey Park the first and last ride that I do is the Carousel! You carve one of my Moms most favorite things ever! Welcome to the board. I really liked the peak at your work.

Hi Tony
You do great work. I am going to start doing people in wood. Like a bust. I have never done that, so it should be interesting.
