Default The blacksmithing wood carver

Hi all,

I'm Reb, I've been a blacksmith for 7 years and got into wood carving in reverse as many wood workers/carvers become blacksmiths to make their own tools. I started carving out of neccessity to have something to do while camping, the wife wouldn't let me get the forge out and pound metal.

I met up with Jack Miller at Gettysburg campground inSept. 2010 and he showed me how to do a face. Hadn't really messed with it up until a month or so ago. I meet with Jack and some others now at his house to carve weekly.

Now it is going strong as a hobby to include in my business, lady at the antique/collectibles shop wants hand carved walking sticks. AND SO IT BEGINS.......

Will post some of my work that I took pictures of.

Reb

Welcome. Harold Enlow is a fellow woodcarver/blacksmith. You should pick up some of his books on woodcarving.

G'day Reb, welcome to the forum. You will probable make some nice knives eventually combining the two art forms. Joe.
