Thumbs up BillinO

Hi all I'm Bill grew up in Oklahoma, hooked up with the US Air Force and run around the world for over 21 years. I settled down in Omaha, Ne. have two grand kids. I still have to do that 4 letter word (work) so do not get a lot of time to carve. Have been carving about 3 years, a senior German friend got me into carving. Each time I was at his home I would look at his carvings, he took notice and gave me a knife and a chunk of wood, and I havent looked back. Have had a knife in my pocket as long as I can remember, as a child made a lot of sharp sticks. I enjoy all types of carving bark, caricature, animals birds, styalized. I have posted severat times on this board and got great responses. I look forward to this time of day to check the message board. Must get ready for work, am a maintenance mechanic at a local hospital (aka handyman). Bill in Omaha

Hello Bill in Omaha,

That practically makes you a neighbor! Glad you are on the WCI board now. I know, I know...work gets in the way of carving, but it pays the bills and since I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go. Keep on carving and keep on coming back here.

Cool Re: BillinO

Welcome aboard Bill!!! Spent a piece of time stationed there myself (or as we referred to it Awful AFB, Omigod, NE). Most of the time at Building H (Hamms Bar) or the Golden Horsehoe, neither of which place is probably still standing.

Smile Re: BillinO

HI all thanks for the hardy welcome. Carver6, I was born in Lindsay, moved to Norman when 9, and graduated in 66 from Norman. Rocket 39 spent my time in Bld D, with the engineers, Hamms is still the NCO club annex, the Golden Horse Shoe has another name but building is still there. Was out there this AM doing the commissary thing, and getting a haircut. Just got a digital camera if I ever learn it will post. Later Bill in Omaha

Hi Bill -- Husband and I were in Omaha - SAC HQ, building 500 in XPQ - '81 to '84. I think he was home about 17 days during those 3 years. I didn't carve then but I sure got a lot of painting done.
Glad to meet you ... we look forward to seeing some of your carvings.
