I lived in Bakersfield in the 60's,was there once in the early seventies. I understand there are some almond groves near Shafter, dont know if the trimmings would be good to carve or not, something to check out. Welcome to the board.

I lived in Lancaster in the 6th grade, 1961-62. I thought it was a wonderland! I remember some sort of a desert willow growing along washes, not very big. I don't remember many other trees there then other than Joshua trees, but it sure had endless places to explore for a 12 year old! Desert turtles, scorpions, lots of fun things to bring home! Great city swimming pool, but you had to wear flip flops to get there, as the blacktop was melting and would fry your feet! It was like a "badge of honor" to live so close to Death Valley! I loved it!

Welcome, I lived in the bay area for many years before we moved to AZ. passing though Bakersfield on 99 many times. Never really got to see down town Bakerfields. Again WELCOME to WCI......

Born and raised in good ol' Bako! Just moved back to town after having lived in the LA area for 15 years. It's good to be home!
