Another newbie here

Thank you, Sharon! I got the cheap set of watercolors at Walmart and they're wonderful. I think I got like 12 color tubes for $4.99. And the beauty of them is that you can let what you didn't use just dry up and add a few drops of water to get it ready to use again. No waste. I use small waxed paper bowls and just stack them after the paint is dry. You can easily rub off as much as you want to let the woodgrain show through, too. That's what I did with the whale tail fork because I loved the look of the grain in that piece.

Us northern CA girls rock! Gotta love Wally world! I've still have dried up tubes of water colors from my brief college days(mid 70's) up north of here. I still use them and I refill my grandkids paint boxes with them. I was always to chicken to spray sealer over other projects I painted with them, now I know I can.Thanks for info.

hey me again! I went back and read your whole thread
I don't use my flex shaft, I hold the whole thingy. I can tell you, my hands hurt like hell most days. That constant vibration is no goodskie for your joints and such It is nice to get out the hand tools and do it old fashioned every once in awhile. Your painted ones look phenom!

I think that you have done a marvelous job on those hair pins and its nice to see something new. I just started on spoons a while ago with celtic love spoons then a tasting spoon and to my horror my flex shaft did the beaking thing as well.
Mine was replace by home depot with the receipt in hand.
I realized why mine broke, I was frlexing the shaft beyond its radius and forgot to grease the inner shaft.
