Default Another new guy

Hi All;
Guess I am one of the new guys so please let me tell you a bit about myself. Got into making woodchips several years back when I heard it stated that all I needed was a sharp knife and dull wits, so figured I could sharpen a knife and qualify. Mostly have carved caricaturisations and tried relief carving but found no relief in it, mostly just more woodchips and scrap wood. What I know about carving has been learned from books or from "Oops, that might leave a mark" if you know what I mean. Would like to thank everyone for letting me become a part of your group.

welcome aboard Woodchips. You will find many beginners as well as some very experienced wood carvers here.
For myself, I do not get to serious about carving, its all about fun and relaxation for me. A project must be something I want to carve and I never work on a production schedule.
Again, Welcome and I look forward to seeing some of you work.

Hay, thanks to everyone for your responses. Makes a person feel right at home. Just wondering if anyone out there can shed some light on an individual from Florida by the name of Hutto who makes knifes? Placed an order with him several years ago and from the time I first used the knife he made it became my favorite. Could say that the blade and handle style were a match made in heaven. Have done several searches on the Internet and looked at all the carving supplies but can't find anything on him or his knifes. Would be most appreciative if someone point me in the right direction on locating Mr. Hutto.

Welcome aboard Woodchips. I haven't seen anything about Hutto knives, but there are several other knife makers on and mentioned in these forums. Take a look around, you might find a good alternative.
