Hi Allie, welcome
Do you have a specific subject you'd like to carve using your dremel tools. Start frequenting the 'Power Carving Forum' of which I visit from time to time. I power carve and hand tool carve, so might be able to help ya with questions.

Hi Allie, Welcome. I carve with Dremels and hand tools. If you have a chance there are video's, I have Frank Russell's Fur, Feathers & Fins. It is a wealth of good information and demonstrations. Also, before you make too much sawdust get a mask or respirator. All of the folks on here are fantastic at helping.

Howdy!! I've been carving Santas lately. I''m about to start a carving of Gen. Louis Armistead leading his regiment in"Picket's Charge" at the battle of Gettysburg. I keep running into the problem that I need to cut the blank out without the arms because the band saw isn't wide enough to cut the pattern with the arms. As a result, I need to cut the arms individually and attach them as a final step. Attaching the arms with a dial road and glue isn't an easy task. Trying to get a smooth appearance after they are attached isn't easy either. My experience is that trying to carve the arm as one piece is difficult and often a good way to end up with a knife wound as well. Do any of you have a suggestion as to how to accomplish the task?
