Default Accidental carver

Hello all,

I'm a woodworker who has relocated to a place with limited space. As with all folks who use tools...one can never have too many. My folks sold their house and I ended up with a nice assortment of good chisels. Just what I needed, more tools!

So...when all else fails, I find a project to fit the tools and space available. Thus I am going to try my hand at woodcarving.

Naturally I took the time to look around this forum and couldn't help but marvel at the chain saw art I saw. I realize that a set of chisels isn't much like a chainsaw (at least in my hands the two would cretainly never be compared) but what I did see was a use for all the stumps, trunks, chunks and lumps of wood left by a severe windstorm and snow last winter.

For my first project I intend to jump right in with a short peice of Hemlock trunk and find the tree spirit in it. I'll be using the chisles for this and I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for being here and being so active,
Donna

Let us know how you make out with that hemlock. I understand it has a pretty tough grain.
