Default The wood found me

While driving last night, the wind picked up considerably. I noticed a tree up ahead that was being blown from all directions. No sooner did the thought of the tree coming down occur to me, it did. I was two lanes from the tree and I was able to stop with front of my truck into the tree. Car on my right was not so lucky. It landed on his hood. No injuries Thank God. It was a Bradford Pear which is notorious for breaking in high winds. Had my trusty saw and managed to get a nice piece for a walking stick and a few other branches that will probably become spoons. I've carved found wood but its the first time the wood found me.

Wow, it is a blessing in both sense.
We also had high winds last night and all through the night...It slowed a little today. Can't wait to see the end product....You may want to call it storm...

Hi Bill,

You were indeed lucky. Somebody up there loves you.

That should make a very nice stick. I've carved some fruitwood sticks and lots of hardwood one too. I like the way they hold the tiny details.
