Default White pine in or near Arkansas

I am looking for an outlet for white pine for carving and I live in NW Arkansas. Does anyone have any ideas for me about where I might find some good white pine near here?
Thanks,

Bill

You might try calling a few of the lumber yards near you and ask for "clear white pine" this is considered the best cut for pine and many local yards carry it. It normally is very clean and almost no knotholes. If they don't you can always order from the net.

I ordered a 4"x4"x10 foot S4S from my local yard and got it for about 25 bucks. I had to wait a few days for it, but it was worth it.

Bill, I live near Alpena, AR. Several years ago I stopped in at the log home building place on the east side of U.S. 65 as you leave Springfield, MO. You can't miss it. they are the ones with the two story log cabin. The logs they use are "squared" white pine. They had several end pieces and when I explained I was a woodcarver, they gave me a very good price on one of these butt pieces (about 15 inches square and 30 inches long). Don't know if they will still do something like this; but, you might give it a try.

Try Nations Hardwood in Prairie Grove, AR. I've been buying from them for the past 15 years and my Dad before me. Great quality, local basswood, all the hardwoods you could ever want and they let you pick the pieces you want. Good prices too. Plus they have some great flea markets in that neat little town and a great Civil War museum. Here's a link:
