Default White limba / Korina

I build guitars as a hobby as well, and i have used white limba for bodies and necks. Although i have not yet carved any of it, it seems very similar in grain and density as a good pattern grade of mahogany.

Have any of you folks done carvings in limba? I will try some soon... It is an attractive wood. Not the most common, but it is still no more expensive as good mahogany, butternut, etc.

Should make a very attractive carvin if left in a natural state or with a light stain.

Default Re: White limba / Korina

I've carved a couple pieces with white limba. Made a couple of duck decoys (smoothies). I found it very easy to carve; even moreso than mahogany. It's much more forgiving, such as when carving across or against the grain. Go for it!
