It really is no problem. I walk as much as I can anyway to keep my leg muscles from totally going away, so why not gather (or attempt to) things that people want while doing it.

Karen brought in a piece of wood a few minutes ago that (to my imagination) already looks like a perfect piece to make a wizard out of! I'm putting a link to it, and the first person to claim it, gets it. That's the only fair way I can think of. I have NO IDEA what kind of wood it is, but it's very old. The wizard hat is already the top of the piece! (or at least that's what it looks like TO ME) HEHE The piece is 6 inches wide, 7 inches long, and 2.5 inches thick in the middle. It is very light, and I don't know how it will carve, and I don't want to put a knife to it because it may take away from something you want to do with it?

BTW, I'm not selling any of this stuff right now... It's free... I only ask 2 things... 1) for the shipping amount to be returned, and 2) That you show what you make out of it on here somewhere, when it's completed. I wouldn't ask for the shipping cost if it weren't for money being extremely tight around here. Karen works two jobs with me being unable to work, and money doesn't come easy here. Getting the chisel was a special treat, that I am extremely grateful for.

Missed this one first time around; but Hi Ho is right and I have a few ponderosa pine knots laying around and should be OK for carving. One is cleaned up and mounted on a board to clamp in a vise. They are pretty hard with pitch. PM me if interested.

Hey takeaction - that knot looks cool and I'm interested but I honestly have soooooo many other carving projects in the queue and other materials to carve, that I probably ought to pass for now. It could be . . . um, a REALLY long time before I ever get around to carving it and posting pics for you. So I'll let someone else step to the fore in this case.

I suffer from the - "ooh I want to make that, ooh I want to make THAT, No - now I REALLY want to make this" syndrom. In fact, everytime I see someone post pics up here I swear that THAT will be my next project. The reality is that my carving time right now is so limited that I can't even imagine doing 1/2 of the tiniest fraction of what I say I want to do.

Thanks so much though. I have always admired the carved pine knots that I've seen. Maybe someday soon, but I guess I should be realistic.

I have found a few more pieces, one really nice piece of pineknot, but my camera has run out of batteries... This piece is really nice and is really hard, not rotten at all. I can only hope Karen remembers to pick some batteries up at the store. She's in town now. This piece is 4"x7" and 1.5" thick at the knot, and has a hole in the upper right corner with a knot around it... When I first saw it, I thought it would be PERFECT to mount a woodpecker or other bird on, but again, that's just what "I" saw...

Got another big piece waiting, but the yellowjackets haven't settled down yet... I really made them mad... LOL

The second I get the batteries, I'll start posting pics of the found wood.
