Basswood pricing varies typically .02 to .07 per cubic inch; of course that depends where you are in the U.S.

The shipping is the killer for buying online. I have more questions on why the cost was so much for shipping. Well dont know what to tell them other then I dont think a carrier pigeon can carry a 4x4x24 lol.....I sent out a 6"x10"x4' it was outrageous. I used the UPS site and came up with a price. I went to send it out and it ended up being $30.00 more then what I had quoated a person. I asked the UPS clerk what was up with that. They said the the UPS site for caculating cost was not correct!! Nice to know that lol.......SO I figure the USPS is the same way.Even when I get asked to combine items together , to save on the shipping, its only a $1.oo off from the two being sent seperate. Most times I dont even include handling in the cost. When I do ask for the handling fee it is when it is a large piece that requires me to run around finding box's that will work and the amount of tape that has to be used.

Here is a good site to figure out the cost per bdft and how to figure out the board footage.

Boy howdy on the shipping cost! I ordered a 50# bag of soy beans. The shipping was almost twice the cost of the beans! Still cheaper than buying them locally though.
