Default Ruined Wood

You know what I hate?...When someone sends you a nice chunk of wood...say Nutmeg from California...and after working with a hand plane and scraper for a couple of hours surfacing and jointing the board and I do something stupid like re-saw it for a bookmatched panel on the bandsaw instead of keeping with the hand tools and resawing it with my home made resaw saw. A big Doh to me, eh?Red Face

Thanks, but you don't have to do that. You sent me two pieces so I worked the other one up, then resawed it with my turning saw. Came out a lot better. Now I just have to plane the sawn faces down. It's for the sides of a small box. I resawed some of that Bay Pepperwood for a book matched top for the box. I'll probably use some Madrone to "frame" the Pepperwood top.

On a side note, I'm working up another box to send you. How does Am. Holly, Sassafrass and Apple with some more Mt. Laurel thrown in to fill the box up?

Sounds divine and Holly...er...Holy I am really anxious to touch them ! Your box sounds so lovely! I hope you will post pictures when you are through!
Very glad to hear that you made it work. Sometimes the second attemp is much better than the first...good thing!
