| | Roughouts - Dogs It's me again looking for wood! I got tired of carving on eggs and I am looking for characture roughouts for dogs. I have a friend who has requested a basset hound and I haven't been able to find anything close.
I carved a really cute dog from one of Gil Drake's roughouts and that is what got this started. It is probably one of the best carvings I've done and I won't part with it, mine!
Any ideas? I've searched the web but there is so much out there it is just confusing.

I'm sorry I don't have a pattern or roughout to reference but here is a thread related to a carving I completed a couple of years ago. Hope its helpful... Lonesome Dove |

| | Re: Roughouts - Dogs do a google search of the dogs you want, print copies of the pictures of them and trace the outline on a piece of wood, cut it out and you have a roughout of whatever dog you want. |

| | Re: Roughouts - Dogs Rocket - That would be perfect. Did you get it in a rough out or just start from scratch?
Bart - Thanks, I'll check into that.
Hi Ho Silver - I can't do my own roughouts. Husband has a band saw but I haven't been able to get him to try it for me.

| | Re: Roughouts - Dogs Greenbean,
I just started from scratch, however I had carved some hounds from Tom Wolfes books so that helped. I'd go w/ Bart's idea of looking for Tom's book on dogs. |

| | Re: Roughouts - Dogs don't know of a roughout or cutout for a basset hound, but here's one over at Wood Carvers Supply of a snoopy hound that you might be able to adapt by shortening up the legs a bit.
Click on the "kits" section on the left side of the page, then drop down a few projects. http://www.woodcarverssupply.com/store/

| | Re: Roughouts - Dogs Thank you!
I know somewhere I saw a blank that was a hound laying on it's tummy. Probably at the show in Kennewick, WA. I can't think of the woman's last name that had that table. Her first name is Chris and she is somewhere in Washington I believe.
I am going to order Tom Wolfe's Gone to the Dogs. I don't think I'm ready for realistic looking critters!
Thanks again! I'm so glad I found this forum!
