Default Remember that Apple Wood?

Well folks, my wife thinks I have a girlfriend hidden in our basement!!!

She yelled down the stairs today at me, while I was slabbing up some A pple wood that I was given months ago. It appears I was making rather loud sounds that were reminisent of "something" else!

I have finally assembled and connected my new dust collector to the bandsaw and have been slabbing the numerous logs that I had stashed in preperation. The Cherry was first the other day and went well, this morning I tried a few sticks of that A P P L E . Geeez...... you should see this stuff!!! Gorgeous!!! Some even has some "birds-eye" in it....never heard of birds-eye-A pple before! And the colour!!! Am I going to have fun with this stuff when it's dry!!!

It is suppose to be for a ship model, but I know some will be going for other uses!!! Ooohhhh I love wood!!!

Bob

Oooh thats some purty wood! Do you have anything in mind on what you want to do with it? Relief of some sort?

In a book I had gotten from the library..they had shown how to make ladles from the elbows of apple wood branches.

Yes the a pple will be fun to carve Bob. You may recall the large piece I posted a while ago. Its very hard as you will find out no doubt so keep your tools sharp. It takes details very well. Here is that same piece but out in the sun next to the house. You can see all the colours coming through from the light. Look forward to seeing what you end up doing with it.

Bob,
Nice find! I love apple wood! I have 2 old apple trees I'm taking out this fall and the next door neighbor has one that blew over that I'm hoping to get a chunk of.
I can hardly wait to see what you do with that beautiful wood! Passing through your hands, I know it will be a perfect match to the wood!

Sure is puuuurty!!! Slabbed up some more this afternoon and more birds eye in it too!!! Geez........ this is so cool. As it comes off the saw, I have a flood of ideas for each piece. Boxes, handles, bases, ... !

Have some nice pieces where branches come out for spoons, ladels and such. Going to give those a try too. Just have to have patience while it drys.

So much nice wood in the world, so little time!!!

Bob
