looking for patterns or reference material for carving bird wings

There are a lot of references out there on carving bird wings. Although wings have general commonalities (feather groups), it is still necessary, depending on the carving, to have references for individual species. Then you should consider whether you want the wing open (flying) or closed (perched).

There are a number of us bird carvers here on the forum. If you give us more information on the carving you have in mind, I am sure that you will end up with ample reference material. WCI memebers thrive on being of assistance to other carvers.

paul, recently i,ve been trying to carve birds in flight, i carved a bluebird, a chickadee and a goldfinch, all from photos out of books or magazines. i was very unhappy with my results and after looking around this site i realized i needed a pattern as a starting point. don't really care what bird i pattern just hoping for something small (less wood) to help me .
