| | Question about buying basswood??? I just recieved my new issue of Woodcarving Illustrated and was going to start one of the projects and went all over town looking for some Basswood with no luck. I know that it can be bought from quite a few places on line but I was wanting to know from Ya`ll where to get the best product. Thanks in advance...Bruce |

| | Re: Question about buying basswood??? I agree, Heinecke is the best. Cost of a 2 x 2 x 12 inch piece of basswood is roughly 1/3 the cost of the same piece at Woodcraft, and it's a better piece of wood, too.

| | Re: Question about buying basswood??? Knothole... Claude is correct but if you are in a jam Woodcraft does offer a limited selection of bass and other woods. Occasionally they'll have a manager's special and you can pick it up on sale.

may I say Heinecke is the best ( at least in my books ) and they are a pleasure to deal with and they remember you..... ( your name, etc ) it reminds you of dealing with people when I was a kid........ don't have to punch numbers you talk to a real person. even with shipping their prices will beat most places. .....oh...by the way their wood cuts like butter and has a nice cream color
thats about 2 cents worth. lol

| | Re: Question about buying basswood??? I have absolutely no advice on who to buy from. I bought some air dried basswood though, and was very unhappy with it, versus kiln dried. I may very well have been the tree, and not the drying method, however the density wasn't there, and it was more bittle, tore easier and was harder to put in the detail that I was hoping for. So, because I am so picky, I always want to see all the wood I am buying. Just my two cents. |

| | Buying basswood??? I am a firm believer in buying only from Heinecke.
I saw Dale and Marge again at the Belleville, IL show this weekend - what a treat.
Dave and Michele Stetson were there too. They are due here at my house any minute ... we'll play with Heinecke wood ! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
