Default pine wood...derby...

i took the kids to hobby lobby monday evening...i have been looking for some pine to carve some santas, and i came across a pine wood derby kit. i was the basic kit, a square block of wood and 4 wheels. the block is the perfect size for the santa i am wanting to carve (using rick butz pattern), so i bought it. $3.99 plus tax. it is almost pure white, and very clear of any grain, carves nicely. if anyone is looking for a block of pine, check them out. i will post a pick of the santa when i am done...

I am a Cub Scout leader and have those kits scattered all around my house. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the idea.
