Default one large carving block

I thought I would post this large carving block I have. It is 7"x12"x120"

It had been ordered then the guy decided he didn't want it. So I am going to cut it down into managable blocks.

Hmmm,wonder if I could make a walking stick out of it.Naw,I,m tall,but not that tall.

Make one that tall anyway. I've seen spoons and bowls carved for giants, so why not a walking stick?

What kind of wood? I am looking for something of that thickness. Preferably basswood or butternut.
