Default NE White Pine

After years of carving with mostly walnut (gun Stocks) Bass wood (Decoys and Santas) Mahogany (signboards, eagles, etc.) I went out and got a large amount of NE white pine at a good price. Its fun and easy to carve, $1.00/BF cheaper or more at times, than the above mentioned woods. It just does't hold detail very well, you have to be careful around sharp edges or they will break off. But I will be using a lot more of it in the future.

You might find sugar pine better but the price is also much more. I would think the pine has too much grain to make much detail. What about sap encounters?
