Default Looking For Walking Stick Blanks

Hi All,

What a great site. I have been carving wood for years, I had an art gallery in Santa Monica, CA. I closed it last year and, moved to Olympia washington to opened a small store featuring hand carved walking sticks and canes. I use all the local woods i could find. The problem is I don't have as much time to go looking for sticks. Im looking for all types of wood straight enough to make walking sticks, and sticks or roots with a natural handles to carve in to canes. Is there any body who could supply me with
blank sticks????

THANKS!!!!!!!

Dirk

Contact Keith Rose at 870-966-4399. He has a large business selling all kinds of canes and walking sticks to carvers. He is located at 266 E. Wirth Rd, Mammoth Springs AK 72554. I've bought several canes with natural handles for resale and have always been pleased with what he sent me.

Maybe there is a kid in your community who could benefit from being paid for useable sticks.

Good idea and for a few bucks the kids will ( used to) work their cans off. Just make sure you keep your existing sticks locked up

I know this is an older thread, but I'm new here. I harvest sticks all the time when I'm in the woods geocaching. I've gotten to the point where I carve mostly canes and shillelaghs and thus am looking for natural handles on sticks. I harvest many more than I can use.

What specifically are you looking for and are you still in need of blanks?

Thanks for the reply.

I decided to get out of the walking stick business so I don't need anything anymore. I used cottonwood and willow most of the time. I really liked the buckeye sticks but they were hard for me to get around the Kansas City area. Thanks for thinking of me Stikman.
