Thumbs up Heinecke Wood Products

Just thought I'd pass this along, I ordered 12 basswood blocks for figure carving from Heinecke and the wood was fantastic and planed on all sides!
The best thing was the price ($84 with shipping to NY)...

I haven't used anything except Heinecke wood for years and I've never gotten a bad piece.
When I need a BIG piece Dale glues up the size chunk I need and it's perfect.

If you're really lucky you can run into them at local shows and buy there.

I too am a firm believer in Heinecke Basswood. Just bought a years worth off him in Wichita this past weekend. Not a bad piece in the bunch. As his sales are aimed mostly to the carver he knows and produces just what we want.

Ordered some myself yesterday! Great people to deal with and will cut to requested size. I'm probably going to check with them later about producing some roughouts that I have been thinking about.

Myrooper, the blocks were of varying sizes with a total weight of 36 lbs. I'm sure that they can get you what you'd like...

about 15 bdft is what that comes too. about $5.73 a bdft or something like that. thats shipping included on the $5.73
I was just interested for my own information. I have my own source for Basswood but thanks anyways.

I can send 1 bdft for $2.50 plus 9.00 shipping.flat rate priority.....
sizes (12) 1x1x12's or (6) 2x2x12 That is what I use to sell it for.

Just received my first order from Heinecke. I ordered a couple of custom sized oval plaques and a few of their practice sticks. Had the order in about a week! Price was excellent and shipping was reasonable.

This is some flat out gorgeous wood!

Feels good to finally find a reliable, quality wood supplier!!

A week or so ago I placed an order with Dale. Sure the price was a little higher, per board foot, than I could have gotten it for locally. But, I may or may not have gotten really clear carving boards from another supplier.
I need the boards to go on a couple of beams in our new house and will then relief carve them. I will be looking at the boards for a long time and want to know that I am getting really good ones. Dale has been catering to carvers for years.

The one surprise was when I found that the shipping was reasonable considering I am ordering 8 boards of 10"x96".
