Smile Hardwood Slices with bark all around edge.

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a Ash, Maple, or any light colored hardwood slice for a special order. 24" in length and 8 to 10" wide, and 1 to 2" thick.
Thanks for any help. I located in Vermont.

Whilst I'm already here...I have numerous Butternut and Walnut limb wood that I'm carving into Castles, since they are defective in one way or another, I can't think of another use. Any ideas??? and, How do I post photos for the members review?
Jan

Two ways to post, Jan...
1. Look on the right side of the opening page here at WCI and you will see a section called "carvers gallery". go there and follow the directions for opening an album for yourself and then for posting...it's pretty simple.

2. When you either begin a new thread or add to an already started thread, drop all the way down on the page and you will see a box that says "manage attachments". click on that. another page will open with several boxes labeled "browse". Open one of these and it will bring you to your own computer's desk top. Find the photo you want to post (probably in "My Pictures"), click on it and it will load to the "Browse" screen. If you have more than one photo to upload, do the same thing in the next "browse" box. When done, drop down and hit the upload button. In a few minutes your pictures will be uploaded and the "browse" screen will show clean. Close that window and post your message like normal. Your photos will automatically be added.

Jan.... You've given no clue as to where in Vermont you are but considering you're in one of the most forested states in the country I can't believe there's not sawmill near by that you couldn't get your piece of wood from. Have you tried to find one and seen if they could fill your needs? Back in the 60's when my Dad was building a camp up in Peacham he use to go around to a number of the sawmills operating in that area and pick up wood. They were all over the place. Granted, things have probably changed drastically but there still must be one or two around. If nothing else you could proably get one of the cutters to slab you off what you need before it goes to the saw. I goggled bark wood but as I'm sure you've already done, only came up with basswood. Maybe one of the other carvers will have an idea.

Jan,
One of my favorite sellers on ebay is called mainehardwood or mainehardwoods. If you do an ebay search by the seller you'll find them. They sell incredible maple and other hardwoods and might even do a special order for you.
Good luck!
Wade
