I think you will find that most folks on this forum prefer Heinecke Wood Products. It will be real difficult to find better people or better wood anywhere.

Good Luck to you! My Nephew and niece have both been back and forth. I picked their brains about trying to grab me a piece of anything wood from there...I want to make doves out of it They told me there is a lot of olive trees. I know it carves spectacular. They also told me touching any of it was a big no no. Bummer for me. Maybe you could find a piece to work while you are there that will keep you occupied.
Thanx for the link BOBT...I have been wanting to ask too! Off to get more coffee and check it out!
Have a safe trip ZWILDMAN! Oh, by the way...what do you carve/whittle? Got some pictures you want to share?
p.s. if you need anything...just holler!

I am with Just Carving on that one. I am retired from 25 years in the Army. I spent a lot of boring months and years in strange places. I wish I had been interested in carving when I was in Viet Nam for three tours.

Please, let us know if you need wood, bandsaw support, or anything else. I am sure you will get everything you need.

I SALUTE you for your support of all of us. And I thank you for your service.

Bob

Hopefully here is a picture of the first two things that I have carved with so much detail. Mostly I have whittled crosses, little animals and whatever else from sticks and such that I would find laying around when i was out and about backpacking, hunting or camping mostly. In the picture is a SAILOR on the right as I am in the NAVY (17 years) and the other is a friend. I just wanna say thanks to ya'all for the support I have spent years in this area of the world and hopefully my last time going there.
