Default Flowering Crabapple Woodspirit

I have a flowering crabapple in front of my townhouse and I saved a couple of pieces of it when I trimmed it a year ago. I let the wood thoroughly dry out (big mistake!) and then began trying to carve a wood spirit into it. That wood is amazing: very light weight, naturally dark color, and hard as iron when dry! The color in the attached photos is totally natural - all I did was add some clear gloss polyurethane to protect it. I have a couple more limbs saved that I was thinking of turning into hiking staffs, but I may have to re-think that due to the hardness of the wood.
